ATTENTION PLEASE!

An issue was just brought to my attention, and to try to ensure that it doesn't happen again, I wanted to get some input from you. 

With the deadline looming over us where ISPs will be monitoring everything with a fine-toothed comb, many are trying to convert their favorite fics into PDFs or search for someone who will convert the stories for them.  There are some authors out there who may not what their fics converted and/or shared with anyone for whatever reason.  And I completely respect that.  It's their story; they have every right to decide whether or not to share their story. 

With that said, are there any authors out there who DO NOT want their stories turned into a PDF and/or shared?  I'm asking this because I'd really like to respect an author's wishes and not unknowingly convert or ask for a fic.

EDIT:  It's been pointed out that the ISP thing will just cover images, movies, and music. 

Either way, I think it's still necessary to find out which authors do not want their stories converted and/or shared.  If you're an author who doesn't want their work shared or know of an author, please let me know.  Also, spnstoryfinders has a pretty decent list of deleted users/frequently asked for, some of which do not want their work converted/shared.  You can find that list here.

This ISP thing is about videos, music and images. Fan Fiction stories will not be affected and it's very unclear just what's going to happen. I think people are overreacting a little.

Thank you for clarifying that for me. I didn't know what all it will cover.

Either way, I think the issue needs to be addressed. Some authors' works are being passed around even when the author specifically stated that he/she does not want their work shared. I understand that people will do what they want, no matter what, but it would be nice to have a list (I do know about the one over at spnstoryfinders).

You're welcome. I'm a mod on all_spn and we discussed Sunday about what we should do. Yeah, people are going to do what they are going to do, so yeah, a list of authors who don't want their stuff shared would be a good idea.

I think ISP is at first all about videos, music and images but sooner or later it will affect all the usual download sites and that means all the PDF stories will be gone!

Thanks for reminding me to save my favorite stories!

just getting caught up on what's been happening in here. I'm not real keen on my work being hosted/posted elsewhere in any format. I write for this community so I'm of the opinion my work stays in this community. If this makes me unpopular or a control freak... so be it.
